Kipster eggs are white because our white-egg laying hens consume less feed, drink less water, and have a smaller environmental footprint. The eggs are laid by hens fed on upcycled food surplus, on farms powered by solar energy, and designed around what chickens actually need rather than what’s cheapest to build. No day-old male chicks are killed, and everything is verifiable. After all, as a Dutch company, overengineering is kind of our thing.
Until recently, Kipster eggs were sold in the U.S. through Kroger’s Simple Truth label, co-branded with Kipster. That partnership has ended. Now, what is changing is that Kipster is launching eggs under our own name in a newly designed carton. What stays the same is the way we care for our chickens and the planet. We’ll keep sharing our fact-based and science-backed stories.

Contrary to popular belief, the color of an egg’s shell, determined by the hen’s breed, does not affect its nutritional value or quality. Our choice to produce white eggs is driven by their lower carbon footprint. By not perpetuating the myth of brown eggs’ supposed superiority, we’re taking a stand for sustainability and informed consumer choices.
We’ve taken a stand against the culling of male chicks, an issue widely condemned. Therefore, we are using in-ovo sexing technology to prevent the killing of one-day old male chicks.
While our ambition is to raise these roosters for meat in the U.S., infrastructure and market dynamics for this humane practice are still in development. We are tirelessly working to build a system that allows these male birds to contribute to a sustainable cycle that meets our ethical standards.
